Rites At W. Van Lear
For Popular Resident

Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, at
the West Van Lear Church of Christ for Jesse Burchwell, 75, one of
the county's prominent and well- liked residents. He had been in
ill health for the past several months, but death occurred
suddenly when he suffered a heart attack at 11:00 a.m., Sunday,
March 4, at his home at West Van Lear.

Born in Floyd County November 5, 1875, the son of the late James
and Emma Akers Burchwell, he had resided at West Van Lear for the
past twenty years, and was held in high esteem by his neighbors in
that community and his many friends throughout this section. He
was affiliated with the Church of Christ and worked in the mines
before his retirement.

Survivors include his wife, Mintie Burchett Burchwell; two
daughters, Mrs. Essie Hall, city, Miss Jewell Burchwell, West Van
Lear; three sons, William J. Burchwell, Seco; Cecil H., Dayton,
O.; and Quentin, West Van Lear. Surviving also is one sister,
Mrs. Louisa David, Muncie, Ind.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. S.D. Honeycutt, Burial was
in the Cumbo cemetery under the direction of the Jones Funeral
Home.
