LULA BURKE
1880-1965
Lula Burke, age 84, died at her home in West Van Lear, Friday,
August 29, following an extended illness.
Born November 13, 1880, she was the daughter of the late Robert
and Rebecca Robinson George, and the wife of the late Calvin
Burke.
A member of the West Van Lear Church, she is survived by four
sons; Howard Burke of Jeffersonville, Ind.; Green Burke of
Ragland, W.Va.; Arch Burke of Tampa Fla.; one step-son Everett
Burke of Allen; two daughters; Mrs. Dewey Williams of Paintsville;
Mrs. Ruth Meek of West Van Lear, two step daughters; Mrs. Norma
Greer of East Point; Mrs. Sophia Fairchild of Huntington, W. Va.,
16 grandchildren, and 17 great- grandchildren and several step
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 23, 2:00 p.m. at the
West Van Lear Church of Christ with the Revs. S.C. Honeycutt and
Cecil Sherman officiating.
Burial took place in the Cumbo Cemetery, West Van Lear with the
Jones-Preston Funeral Home in charge.
