Gene Cantrell, 81, of West Van Lear, died Friday, May 8, at his
residence.
Born Nov. 15, 1927, in Letcher County, he was the son of the late
Daniel and Carrie Mullins Cantrell.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Cantrell, Ester
Cantrell, and Avis Cantrell; two sisters, June Moma, and Monica
Cantrell.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Jones Cantrell of West Van Lear; a
son, Terry Cantrell of Hager Hill; a daughter, Debra Puckett of
Louisville; two sisters, Pat Harris of Van Lear and Trish Cantrell of
South Carolina; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Sunday, May 10, at Phelps & Son Funeral Home
Chapel, with Clarence Lemaster and Greg Coleman officiating.
Burial was in Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, under
direction of Phelps & Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.
