1892-1970
 
Seventy-eight-year-old Mance Cantrell passed away in a local hospital
on September 21.
 
The retired coal miner and former West Van Lear resident will be
buried September 24 in the Concord Cemetery at Thealka, under the
guidance of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
 
Services are to be held at 10 a.m. that day in the Concord United
Baptist Church at Thealka by Tommy Bailey, Buell Ferguson, and
Florida Lyons.
 
His parents were John and Alice Burchett Cantrell.  He was married to
the late Ella Mae Napier Cantrell.
 
Survivors are his five sons, Mance and Estill Cantrell of West Van
Lear, Mitchell and Walter Cantrell from Paintsville, and William
Hershell Cantrell of Cleveland, Ohio; three daughters, Mary Alice
Adams and Burdis Spradlin from West Van Lear, and Betty Hale of
Pineville; four brothers, Wonnie and Bill Cantrell from Win, Jimmy
Cantrell of Ophir, and Estill Cantrell from Paintsville; three
sisters, Esta Barker from Fairborn, Ohio, Lesta Pennington of Flat
Gap, and Renda Bayes from Columbus, Ohio; 28 grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren.
