 VERN CASTLE
1906-1977
 
Vern Castle, 71, died Friday, June 3, at his Tutor Key home following
an extended illness. Mr. Castle was born January 1, 1906, at
Lowmansville, the son of Farris and Castoria Grim Castle.
 
He was a retired miner and a member of the United Baptist church.
October 24, 1929 he was married at Ulysses to Opal Preston Castle,
who survives.
 
Other survivors are three sons, Ernest Ray of Flatwoods, Robert E. of
Hager Hill and Wayne D. of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Kay
Burkett of Staffordsville and Mrs. Helen Frazier of Paintsville; a
foster brother and sister, William R. Scurlock of Tutor Key and
Mattie Gainer of Annamaraha, WV and 14 grandchildren.
 
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 5, in the Tom’s Creek United
Baptist church at Tutor Key with Elders C. J. Sparks, Charles Price,
Virgil Howard and Bruce Howard officiating.
 
Burial was in the Howard Cemetery at Tutor Key with Paintsville
Funeral Home handling arrangements.
