Flem Curtis, 63, died May 29, at his Oil Springs residence.

Mr. Curtis was born August 20, 1918, in Johnson County, the son of Johnnie
and Mary McCarty Curtis. He was a heavy equipment operator for the State
Highway Department and a member of the United Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel Blanton Curtis; a son, Johnnie Curtis, Flat
Gap; three daughters, Joan Estep, Barnetts Creek, Gertrude Fairchild,
Staffordsville and Sue Curtis, Oil Springs; a brother, Walter Curtis, Oil
Springs; seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1, in Low Gap United Baptist Church
with Elders Lonza Reed, Eual McKenzie, J. T. Bailey and Frankie Williams
officiating.

Burial was in McCarty Cemetery, Manila, with Paintsville Funeral Home in
charge of arrangements.
