OCAL DAWSON
1904-1988
Retired miner, Ocal Dawson, 84, died Sunday, Oct 23, at his Van Lear
residence.
Mr. Dawson was born Nov 4, 1904 in Johnson County, the son of James L. and
Risie Bowling Dawson. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth Dawson, two sons, Elmer of New Mexico, and
Billy of Danville; one daughter, Geneva Trimble of Dayton, OH; three
brothers, Earsel of Beaver, OH, and Roy and Shirley both of CA; three
sisters, Beatrice Honeycutt and Minnie Potter, both of Flatwoods, and Ethel
Honeycutt of Van Lear; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct 25, in Preston Funeral Home Chapel
with Lowell Pelphrey and Michael Trimble officiating.
