PHYLLIS JEAN HOWARD
1918-1960
Mrs. Phyllis Jean Ratliff Howard, 21, wife of Sidney Howard, Jr., of
West Van Lear, died in a local hospital at 11:35 p.m., January 4, 1960,
following the birth of a son.
The daughter of Hobart and Dixie Van Hoose Ratliff, she was born
September 14, 1918, at Patrick and had lived at West Van Lear for the
last six years.
She was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a former employee of Big
Sandy Drug.
Survivors include, besides her husband and parents, a son, Paul Hansel,
and three brothers, Billie Joe, James Hubert and Burns Lee, all of West
Van Lear.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, from the chapel
of the Preston Funeral Home with Carl Hibshman officiating. ] Burial
was in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear.
