James Orville McKenzie, 85, of Staffordsville, died Wednesday, Jan. 2, at
Paul B. Hall Medical Center.

Born May 22, 1927, at Flat Gap, he was the son of the late James Earl and
Cloma Estep McKenzie He was a member of the Van Lear Masonic Lodge 885, Army
World War II veteran, and owner/operator of Thunderbolt Trucking Company.

Survivors include his wife, Betty McKenzie; two sons, James I. McKenzie of
Wittensville and Scott McKenzie of Frankfort; a daughter, Kathy Criger of
Staffordsville; four sisters, Donlyn Cantrell of Fort Saint Lucy, Fla.,
Betty Pelphrey of Dayton, Ohio, Phyllis Pelphrey and Gail Spradlin, both of
Flat Gap; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 5, at Little Mud Lick First Church of
God, Staffordsville, with Tobe Wheeler and Daniel Castle officiating.

Burial was in Johnson County Memorial, under direction of Paintsville
Funeral Home, Paintsville.
