MARY OWENS
1884-1959

Mrs. Mary Owens, 74, wife of Lee Owens of Mine Fork, died at her
home at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 22, following an illness of nine
months.

A native of West Virginia she was born September 15, 1884, the
daughter of John and Eda King Cooke.

She had resided at Mine Fork most of her life and was a member of
the Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving besides her husband are five sons, Willie Owens, Falcon;
Edgar, Walter and Corbet Owens, all of Oil Springs; Dallas Owens,
Mima; three daughters, Edith Barker, Oil Springs; Allie Jackson,
Dayton, Ohio; Callie Lemaster, Mima; four brothers, Corbet Cooke,
Henrietta; Henry, Dewey and Tiny Cooke, all of Greenup; two sisters,
Mrs. Lona Hopkins, Sciotoville, Ohio; Mrs. Ira Jenkins, Oil Springs.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday from the Mine
Fork Schoolhouse with Scott Castle and Earl Ratliff as officiating
ministers.

Burial was in the family cemetery.
