1909-1968


Mrs. Cora Pelphrey, 59, died Thursday, October 17 at a local nursing
home after an illness of six weeks.

Born at Denver on March 15, 1909, she was the daughter of the late
Andy and Ida Selvage Pelphrey. She had been a resident of West Van
Lear for the past 35 years and was a member of the United Baptist
church.

Her husband, Malcolm Pelphrey preceded her in death on June 26, 1964.

Survivors include a son, John Pelphrey of West Van Lear; three
daughters, Mrs. Robert Carter of Portsmouth, OH, Mrs. Danny Crothers
of Douglas, AZ and Mrs. Barba Akin of Columbus, OH. Additional
survivors include a brother Oliver Spradlin of West Van Lear, a
sister, Dollie Collins of Melvin; five grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, October 20 in the chapel of
the Preston Funeral Home with John Sammons officiating.

Burial was held in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear.

The Preston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
