JOHN PELPHREY
1880-1966
John Pelphrey, age 86, died Monday, November 28, at 7:20 p.m. at
the Jenny Wiley Rest Home followed a recent illness.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the
Paintsville Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Davidson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear under
direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
Pelphrey, a retired miner, was born on August 28, 1880 in Johnson
County, a son of Milt and Amanda Conley Pelphrey. He had spent
most of his life at West Van Lear.
Surviving are two sons, Everett of West Van Lear and Estill of
Xenia, Ohio, three daughters Mrs. Alka Preston of Dayton, Ohio,
Elsie Pelphrey of West Van Lear, and Mrs. Shirley Daniel of Tutor
Key, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
