West Van Lear Woman Dies Following Illness of Week

Mrs. Hattie Margaret Petery, 63, a resident of West Van Lear for the
past 26 years, died this morning, in a local hospital following an
illness of a week.

Born in Kanawha County, West Virginia, June 29, 1892, she was the
daughter of the late Albert and Sara Belle Canterbury Stanley.

She was a member of the Van Lear Mission Church.

Surviving are her husband, Cisro Petery, three daughters, Mrs. Opal
Bailey, Oakdale, Pa., Mrs. Freda young, and Mrs. Anna Belle
Pelphrey, both ls Xenia, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Julia Totten,
Boomer, W. Va., Mrs. Ollie Higginbotham, Belle, W. Va., and Mrs.
Blanche Farley, Millbourne, Fla., two brothers, Nerville Stanley,
Boomer, w. Va., and Maywood Stanley, Smithers, W. Va.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 2, 1955,
at the west Van Lear Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. C. C.
Mayle officiating.

Burial will take place in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear under
the direction of the Jones and Preston Funeral Home.
