JOE EDWARD SALYERS
1933-2007

Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 28, 2 p.m. at the
Staffordsville Free Will Baptist Church for Joe Edward Salyers, 74,
of Oil Springs, Ky., who passed away Thursday, Oct. 25 at King’s
Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Ky.

Mr. Salyers was born Sept. 6, 1933 at Barnetts Creek, Ky., son of
Emerald Salyers and the late Ray Salyers. He was a corporal in the
U.S. Army, a member of the Staffordsville Free Will Baptist Church
and a retired miner and drywall entrepreneur.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Elizabeth Jane
Salyers of Oil Springs; two daughters, Deborah Marlene Trimble of
Green Cove Srings, Fla., and Jody Annette Wheeler of Oil Springs; one
son, Joe Ray Salyers of Staffordsville; one sister, Betty Jean
McCarty; four brothers, Paul, Jack, Bill and Gary Salyers; five
granddaughters and two grandsons, and a host of nieces, nephews, and
other relatives and friends.

The service was officiated by Elders Jerry Scott, Wendell Ison,
Jimmie Price and Larry Blair, with burial in the Johnson County
Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville.

Arrangements under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home of
Paintsville.
