JAMES NELSON SPARKS
1917-1971

James Nelson Sparks, 54, died Sunday, April 25, 1971, in his West
Van Lear home after suffering an extended illness.

 He was a
retired miner and a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints.

Sparks was born in Johnson County to the late Richard and rose
Walters Sparks.

Immediate survivors include his wife, Ruth Spradlin Sparks; two
sons at home, James and John Sparks; three daughters at home,
Elizabeth, Cindy and Peggy Sparks, and a daughter from
Prestonsburg, Cathy Hughes; two brothers, Ottis and Green Sparks
of Pontiac, Mich., and three daughters Mable Morris, Ruby Dameron
of Van Lear and Ethel Wells in Floyd County.

John M. Wheeler and Roger McKenzie conducted services Tuesday,
April 27, 1971, in the chapel of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home,
which was in charge of interment afterward in the Cumbo Cemetery
at West Van Lear.
