LEONA STURGILL

Thealka resident, Leona Sturgill, 87, died Thursday, June 3 in Paul B. Hall
Regional Medical Center.
  
Mrs. Sturgill was born February 20, 1906 in Johnson County, the daughter of
the late Obie and May (Pelphrey) Pelphrey. She was a member of the
Paintsville United Baptist Church.
  
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Sturgill in 1990.
Surviving are one son, John Pelphrey of Allen; one daughter, Jewell Sturgill
of West Van Lear, and seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one
great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 5, in
Paintsville United Baptist Church, with Willis Bowling, Jerry Smith, J. D.
Rice and LaFrance Rigsby officiating.
  
Burial was in Johnson County Memorial Cemetery at Staffordsville with
Preston Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
  
Pallbearers were Glenard Pelphrey, Joe Pelphrey, Alfred Pelphrey, Brad
Meadows, Bob Daniel and Dave Blair.
