WALTER D. STURGILL
1910-1969
 
Walter D. Sturgill, 58, died Friday, September 12 in the Church Home
Hospital at Baltimore, MD after an illness of several months.
 
Born in Johnson County on September 22, 1910, he was the son of the
late Millard and Elizabeth Salyers Sturgill.
 
He was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad and resided in
Baltimore, MD. His wife, the former Effie Jenkins, preceded him in
death in 1962.
 
Survivors include three sons, Charles, Howard, and Donald Martin
Sturgill of Baltimore, MD; a daughter, Mrs. Rosie Marie David of
Baltimore, MD; and thirteen grandchildren.
  
Additional survivors include four brothers, Arzie Sturgill of
Stambaugh, Curtis Sturgill of Hager Hill, Clifford Sturgill of
Barnetts Creek and Millard, Jr. Sturgill of Lorraine, OH; five
sisters, Mrs. Virgie Reynolds of Troy, OH, Mrs. Sarah Rhodes of South
Charleston, OH, Margie Robbins of Jenkins and Loucenia Collins of
Salyersville.
 
Funeral services were conducted Monday, September 15 in the United
Baptist Church at Barnetts Creek with Elders John Pelphrey, Lonza
Reed and Buell Ferguson officiating.
 
Interment followed in the Salyers Cemetery at Barnetts Creek.
 
The Paintsville Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
