Rites were held Sunday, July 30 for the two Johnson County
residents who died in a mine explosion last week at Princess
Elkhorn’s No 1 mine at David.

Services were held at 2.pm Sunday, in the chapel of the Preston
Funeral Home, for William B. Titlow, 56, of West Van Lear. Born at
Kingston, W. Va., he was the son of Jacob and Linnie Waugh Titlow.

He was a mine forman for Princess, and he had lived at West Van
Lear for the past 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Robinson Titlow, and three sons;
Bill Titlow Jr. Dayton, Ohio, Douglas Mickey Titlow of Paintsville,
and Richard Titlow of West Van Lear.

Three Grandchildren also survive. Three brothers and five sisters
survive. They are Charles Titlow of Mason, Ohio, Harry Titlow of
Estill, Kentucky, Gusta Martin of Estill. Evelyn Keeny of Dayton,
Mary Opal Adams, Vida Tracy and Sue Knopp, all of New Carlisle,
Ohio.

Tommy Reynolds was the officiating minister. Burial was in the
Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear.
