Dewey VanHoose, 78, died Thursday, September 23, at his Volga
residence after an extended illness.
 
Mr. VanHoose was born July 1, 1898, in Johnson County, the son of
Jess and Hester Auxier VanHoose. He was a farmer and carpenter and a
member of the Fishtrap United Baptist Church.
 
Surviving are his wife, Mary Castle VanHoose; two sons, Gordon of
Staffordsville and William of Vandalia, OH; three daughters,
Georgetta Price of Placentia, CA, Virginia Phillips of Dayton, OH and
Lenore Diffee of Troy, OH; a brother and sister, George VanHoose of
Keaton and Rouie Lemaster of Huntington, WV; 20 grandchildren and 13
great grandchildren.
  
Funeral services were held Sunday, September 26, in the Volga home
with James K. Caudill, Toby Wheeler and Earl Pelphrey as officiating
ministers.
 
Burial was in the family cemetery at Volga with Jones-Preston Funeral
Home handing arrangements.
