HERSHEL KENNETH WEDDINGTON
1909-1993

Hershel Kenneth Weddington departed this life Wednesday evening, March 3,
1993, at Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg, KY.

He was born February 6, 1909, at Leander, KY to the late Leondias (Lee) and
Dora Blair Weddington.

He spent his entire life, 84 years and 25 days, near his birthplace at
Leander. May 17, 1929, he was married to Ethel Blair; who survives. In May
of this year they would have celebrated 64 years of married life together.
They took their marriage vows seriously and lived a devoted, happy life
together. To this union were born three children, Miss Loretta Weddington of
New Carlisle, OH, who has resided with and cared for her parents for several
years; Mrs. Opal (R. B.) Bundren of Knoxville, TN; and Kenneth Elwood
Weddington and wife, Joyce, of Saline, MI; six grandchildren, Michael
Kenneth Bundren of Van Lear, KY, Mrs. Sherry (Tom) Feil of Greensboro, NC,
Danny Bundren of Nashville, TN, Terry, Mary, and Bob Bundren, all of
Knoxville, TN; also four great grandchildren, Michelle, Brandon and Jason
Bundren and Bryant Bales.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Victoria (L. J.) Wilhelm of Tipp City,
OH and Mrs. Lucille (Edgar) Williams of Springfield, OH.

Preceding him in death were two brothers and four sisters, Virgil and Willie
Weddington, Mrs. Fannie (Wiley) Hitchcock, Mrs. Norma (Herbert J.) Blair,
Mrs. Florence (Albert) Blanton, and Mrs. Gladys (Homer) Scott.

Hershel retired in 1968 from a career in mining. On Sunday, September 4,
1983, Hershel was converted and baptized and joined the Beechwall United
Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member until his death. We are
assured our loss is Heaven’s gain. A loved one from our home has been taken,
a voice we love is stilled. There is a vacancy in our home that never can be
filled.

Active pallbearers were: Dean Conley, Larry Joe Blanton, Don Conley, Harlan
Hammond, Uel Blair, Ott Blair, Henry Hammond, and Dwight Baldwin.

Honorary pallbearers were: Herbert E. Blair of San Antonio, TX, Herbert
Kenneth Blanton of West Liberty, KY, James William Blanton of New Carlisle,
OH, Paul Weddington, of Casstown, OH, David Weddington, of New York, Jimmy
Scott, of New Carlisle, OH, Steve Scott of New Carlisle, OH, and Lt. Colonel
Gary Williams of Tampa, FL. (Paid obituary)
