Ashland resident J. P. (Paris) Murray, 93, died Tuesday, May 27 in
Kings Daughters Hospital at Ashland after an extended illness.

Born at Kerz on March 8, 1876, he was the son of the late Fred and
Polly Daniel Murray.

A retired Black Smith he had been a resident of Ashland for the last
five years. He was affiliated with the United Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Brown Murray, one son, Ocie Murray
of Pound, VA; five daughters, Mrs. Ervin Salyer of Blaine, Miss Sylva
Murray of Huntington, WV, Mrs. Irene Castle of Stambaugh, Mrs. Boyd
Rowland of McDowell and Mrs. Ebner Fairchild of Nippa; and 21
grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, May 29 in the Bethel
United Baptist Church with F. F. Rigsby and Edward Salyers the
officiating ministers.

Interment was in the family cemetery at Sitka under the direction of
the Preston Funeral Home.
