Ernest Taylor, 81, of Thealka, died May 7 at his residence.

Born Oct. 8, 1929, in Johnson County, he was the son of the late Arch
Vanhoose and Sylvia Wheeler.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lincoln Vanhoose,
William Wheeler and Amos Wheeler; and a sister, Bonnie Newsome.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Arms Taylor; five sons, Ernest Taylor
of Morehead, Van Maurice Taylor of Staffordsville, Jerry Taylor and
Gregory Allen Taylor, both of Thealka, and Christopher Columbus Taylor
of Meally; four daughters, Brenda Sue Ratliff and Gwendolyn Joyce
Spradlin, both of Thealka, Sherry Hill of Crockett and Elizabeth Ann
Arms of Paintsville; three brothers, Jessie Wheeler and Rufus Wheeler,
both of Flemingsburg, and Troy Taylor of Thelma; six sisters, Barbara
Castle of Ohio, Sondra Baker of Staffordsville, Mary Oma Davis and
Princinia Tackett, both of Flemingsburg, Phyllis Ward of Thelma and
Lilly Mae Clouce of Meally; 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-
grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, May 10, at Thealka Freewill Baptist
Church, with Hubert Slone, Harold Conley, and Gary Blair officiating.

Burial was in Colvin - Taylor Cemetery, Thealka, under direction of
Phelps and Son Funeral Home, Paintsville.
