Agnes VanHoose, 89, of Volga, died Saturday, June 7, at Paul B. Hall
Medical Center, Paintsville.
  
Born June 14, 1924, at Paintsville, she was the daughter of the late
Challie and Malta Rice Pelphrey. She was a homemaker.
  
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Dewey VanHoose.
  
Survivors include two sons, Eddie VanHoose of Louisa and Greg VanHoose of
Staffordsville; a daughter, Kim Tackett of Staffordsville; two brothers,
Jack Pelphrey and Robert C. Pelphrey, both of Staffordsville; three
sisters, Mabel Hazlette of Hager Hill, Ruby Blanton of Van Lear and Betty
McKenzie of Staffordsville; and two grandchildren.
  
Funeral services were Tuesday, June 10, at Little Mud Lick Church of God,
with Tobe Wheeler officiating.
  
Burial was in Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, under
direction of Paintsville Funeral Home, Paintsville.
