Services Thursday For Prominent Man

James Sheridan Auxier, 83, of  East Point, retired farmer and
member of a prominent family died of a heart-attack in a local
hospital Tuesday after a brief illness. He suffered an attack of
pneumonia several months ago from which he never fully recovered.

Mr. Auxier was born at East Point on February 7, 1870, a son of the
late Major John B. and Mary Tilsley Auxier.  A resident of Johns
Creek most of his life, He had moved to East Point since his
retirement as a farmer.

A man of integrity and honor, he was one of the county’s most
respected citizens and was held in high esteem by neighbors and
friends. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.

He was married to Edith Webb on March 10,1904, and to this union
were born four children.

Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Sarah E. Bullock,
Deming, New Mexico, three sons, James T. Auxier, Paintsville, John
Alvin Auxier, Coalwood, W. Va.; Russell B. Auxier, Deming, New
Mexico, and one brother Henry J. Auxier of Johns Creek.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. April 2, 1953, at the
Freewill Baptist Church on Third Street, by C. C. Hall.

Burial will be made in the family cemetery at East Point.
