MABEL BURKE

Mabel Burke Of West Van Lear Dies January 10 Miss Mabel Burke, 42,
died at 5:10 p.m. Wednesday, January 10 in a local hospital following
an illness of nine months.

The daughter of Mrs. Emma Arms Burke of West Van Lear and the late
Harrison Burke, she was born in Letcher County, February 25, 1919,
and had lived at West Van Lear for twenty years.

She was a member of the Van Lear Missionary Baptist church. Prior to
her illness she was employed as a bookkeeper in Richmond, KY.

Surviving besides her mother are three sisters, Mrs. Oliver Shields,
Richmond, Mrs. Everett Bowling, Van Lear, Mrs. Homer Hale, Cleveland,
OH, two brothers, Harold Burke, West Van Lear, Elmo Burke,
Paintsville.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from the West Van
Lear Missionary Baptist Church with M. R. Thomason and Johnny Sammons
as officiating ministers.

Burial was in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear.
