RUSSELL CANTRELL
SUCCUMBS JULY 1 RITES HELD TUESDAY FOR FORMER RESIDENT
Russell Cantrell, 33, died Monday, July 1, 1957, in a Baltimore, MD., hospital. His death was attributed to a heart attack.
Born June 13, 1924, in this city he was a son of the late James H. and Stella Cheek Cantrell.
He had been a resident of Baltimore for one year and was a truck driver by occupation.
A member of the American Legion, he was a World War II Veteran.
While in the service, he was awarded the European, African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with one bronze star, good conduct medal and W.W.II victory medal.
He is survived by two sons, James William and Larry Russell Cantrell, both of Willow Run, MI, one daughter Sharon Cantrell, of Willow Run, MI, four brothers, Walter Cantrell, of New Cumberland, Ohio, Ervin Cantrell of Columbus, Ohio, Earl Cantrell of this city, Clyde, Collista, three sisters, Mrs. Carl Turner of Flatwoods, Mrs. May Rice of this city, and Mrs. June Barger of Woodstock, NY.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Third Street Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Claude Preston officiating.
Burial was made in the Cantrell Cemetery at Manilla.
The Paintsville Chapter DAV conducted military services at the grave.
