SGT. JACK BURTON CHILDERS

Sgt. Jack Burton Childers, 22, died Tuesday, July 2, at Walter Reed
Army Hospital, Washington, D. C., after undergoing surgery for a
brain tumor.

Born January 9, 1935, at Thelma, he was the son of Tom and Nannie
Mollette Childers.  He entered the U. S. Army in 1954 and served
nine months in Germany.

He attended Meade Memorial High School and before entering the
service he was employed in Marion, Ohio.

Surviving besides his parents are three brothers, Thomas Childers
of Owensboro, and Leonard and Martin Childers, both of Thelma, and
eight sisters, Mrs. Exer Blessing of Marion, Ohio, Mrs. Hester hall
of Thelma, Mrs. Emma Blanton of this city, Mrs. Pricie Brooks of
Marion, Ohio, Mrs. Ruth Wright of Thelma, Mrs. Faye Roland of
Hammond, Mrs. Agnes Butcher of Thelma, and Mrs. Essie Johnson of
Wheelwright.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday from the home with F. F.
Rigsby and Merida Wiley as officiating ministers.

Burial was made in the family cemetery at Thelma.
