Rites Tuesday For
Resident Of W. Van Lear
 
Mrs. Dixie Cumbo, 72, prominent resident of West Van Lear, died in a
local hospital at 6:15 p.m., Saturday, March 29, following an illness
of two and one-half years.

The daughter of the late Samuel and Mahalia Jane Crum Cassady, she was
born April 30, 1885, in Martin County. She had made her home at West
Van Lear for thirty-two years and was a member of the Church of
Christ.

Survivors include her husband, W. A. Cumbo, and son, Wilburn E Cumbo,
Louisville; two sisters, Mrs. Maxie Pack, Charleston W. Va.; Miss
Lucratia Cassady, Asheville N. C.; one brother William Cassady, West
Van Lear.

Funeral services were conducted at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, APril 1, from
the West Van Lear Church of Christ by Rev. S. C. Honeycutt.

Active pallbearers were Herbert Deskins, William Stambaugh, Milo
Preston, Deward Price, Brooksie Webb, Ezra Robinson, and Kent Phelps.
Honorary pallbearers were Irvin Music, Cecil Sherman, Tom Goble, and
Bruce Phelps.

Burial was in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear.
