ROSELLA DAVIS 1884-1958 Roselle Davis Dies March 5 At Van Lear Mrs. Rosella Webb Davis, 74, died at her home at Van Lear at 10:20 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, of a stroke following an illness of two and one-half years.
She was a sister of Melvin Webb of this city. The daughter of W.J. Webb and Jane Honeycutt Webb, she was born June 15, 1884, and had been a lifelong resident of Van Lear. She was a member of the United Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Lon Davis; four daughters, Mrs. Malvia Young, West Van Lear; Mrs. Elizabeth Webb, Van Lear; Mrs. Laura Mollett, David; Mrs. Ella Hall, Ashbury, N. C.; two sons, Frank Davis, Van Lear; Cecil Davis, West Van Lear. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Zora Phelps, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Laura Phelps, and Mrs. David Elliott, both of Elk City, Okla.; another brother, Willie Webb, Greenup. Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 8, from the Cedar Grove United Baptist Church at West Van Lear with F.F. Rigsby and Leonard Walters as officiating ministers. Burial was in the Hall Cemetery at Davis Branch. NOTE: This cemetery is also known as the "Davis Cemetery" at the Mouth of Davis Branch, Johnson Co., KY. Paintsville Herald Wednesday March 12, 1958
