Charles Edward Hale Sr., 84, of Pineville, formerly of Johnson County,
died Friday, Aug. 15, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington.
  
He was a U.S. Army veteran.
  
Survivors include his wife, Betty Ruth Cantrell Hale; two sons, Chris
Hale of Cumberland Gap, Tenn., and Chuck Hale of Pineville; a daughter,
Barbara Gent of Pineville; a brother, Homer Hale Jr.; and five
grandchildren.
  
Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Paintsville Funeral Home
Chapel, with Gary Blair officiating. Military rites were by DAV Chapter
18, Auxier.
  
Burial was in Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, under
direction of Paintsville Funeral Home, Paintsville.
