WALTER HOLBROOK 1904-1984 Retired C & O Railroad employee, Walter F. Holbrook, 79, died August 11 in Highland Regional Medical Center. Born August 7, 1904, he was a son of Harry and Sarah Rowland Holbrook. Mr. Holbrook was a resident of Thelma and a member of Concord United Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Goldie Holbrook, in August, 1976, and a son Raymond Holbrook. Surviving are his wife, Josephine Dawson Holbrook; four step-sons, Armon and Johnny Dawson of Thelma, and Tommy and Jimmy Dawson of Warsaw, IN; a daughter, Phyliss Holbrook Estep of Thelma; four step- daughters, Christina Hicks and Sue Moore of Clift, KY, Jackie Lafferty of Michigan and Viola Adkins of Texas; a brother, Denzil Holbrook, of Wheelwright; two sisters, Verma Blanton of Oil Springs and Elizabeth Barker of Stanville; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held August 13 at Concord United Baptist Church with Elders B. C. Ferguson and Charles Price officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery at Thelma under the direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home. Paintsville Herald, Paintsville, KY. August, 1984.
