Mrs. Desky Howard, 74, died at her home at West Van Lear Wednesday
morning, February 26, after an extended illness.
The daughter of the late Elijah and Olivia Poe Higgins, she was born
in Magoffin County May 23, 1883, and had made her home in West Van
Lear for the past thirty years.
Her husband, Jimmie Howard, preceded her in death in 1940.
Survivors include a daughter, Minnie Howard, West Van Lear; a sister,
Mrs. Mollie Hurt, Ivyton; a brother, Jim Higgins, Oklahoma; one
grandaughter, 4 greatgrandchildren and 4 great-grand- children.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:p.m. Friday, Feburary 28, at the
West Van Lear Church of Christ with Rev. S. C. Honeycutt officiating.
Burial was in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear.
