Emma Katherine (Childers)(Blanton) James, 73, of Paintsville, died
Wednesday in the Highlands Regional Medical Center, Prestonsburg.

Mrs. James was born Jan.29, 1917, in Whitehouse, a daughter of the
late Tom and Nanny Mollett Childers. Her first husband, Mason
Blanton, died in 1955.

She was a member of the Thelma Primitive Baptist Church.

Surviving are her second husband, Wallace B. James Jr.; two sons,
David Allen Blanton and Robert Lynn Blanton, both of Thelma; five
daughters, Mary Fern Yount of Independence, Betty Carr of Landrum,
S.C., Katherine Butcher of Shelby, Ohio, Helen Stafford of Van Lear
and Dianna Meek of Thelma; a brother, Martin Childers of Thelma; six
sisters, Exer Blessing of Marion, Ohio, Essie Johnson of Pikeville,
Ruth Wright of Paintsville, and Pricy Baldwin, Faye Roland and Agnes
Butcher, all of Thelma; 25 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Thelma
Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Thacker and Elder Paul E. Keaton,
Elder Jerry Brown, Elder Elmer Thacker and Elder Noah Slone.

Burial will be in the Preston family cemetery in Thelma.

Friends may call until 10 p.m. today at the Preston Funeral Home in
Paintsville and an hour before service time Saturday at the church.
