WALLACE JAMES
1926-1997

Thelma resident Wallace B. James Jr., 70, died Tuesday,
February 11 1997.

Mr. James was born August 21 1926, in Logan West Virginia,
to the late Wallace Sr. and Minnie Ferrell James.

He was a retired resident engineer with the state
department of highways.

He was also preceded in death by his wife,
Emma Blanton James who passed away May 23 1990.

Surviving are one son, Robert Wallace James, of Louisa;
two stepsons, David Blanton of Thelma and Robert Blanton of
Sitka; five stepdaughters, Katherine Butcher,
of Shelby, Ohio; Mary Fern Yount of Independence;
Helen Stafford of Van Lear; Berry Carr, of Tryon,
North Carolina; and Diana Meek of Thelma; and three
grandchildren, 25 step-grandchildren, 23 step-great
grandchildren, and a step- great great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 14, at Preston
Funeral Home, with John Sparks and
Elmer Thacker officiating.

Burial was in Preston Cemetery at Thelma.
