DAVID JESSE VANHOOSE 1875-1951 Rites Saturday For Jesse Van Hoose David Jesse Van Hoose, 76, retired farmer and prominent citizen of Johnson County, died Thursday, August 23, 1951 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Pelphrey in the Big Paintlocality, near Volga. Mr.Van Hoose had been ill for several months. He was born July 24, 1875 in Johnson County, a son of Leviand Malissa Salyer VanHoose. His wife Esther Auxier Van Hoose, preceded him in death fourteen years ago. He was a member of the United Baptist Church. He is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Buel LeMaster, of Huntington, W. Va., and three sons, Dewey VanHoose, Manila, George VanHoose, Staffordsville, Bert VanHoose, Charleston, W. Va., and one sister, Mrs. Lou Osborne of Sitka. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:00 a.m. at the home of Mrs. Pelphrey near Volga, by Reverend Lonza Reed and Reverend Oscar McCarty. Burial made in the Auxier Cemetery under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
