WILLA MARGARET WELCH

 
Willa Margaret Welch was born Nov. 03, 1912, in Jenkins, Ky., the
daughter of Clara Duncan Mays and the late R. L. (Bob) Mays.

When she was six months of age the family moved to Van Lear, Ky., where most of her natural life was spent.

In June of 1948 Willa Mays became the bride of Francis L. (Jack) Welch of Clarksburg, W. Va., with most of their married life being spent in Paintsville and Huntington, W. Va.

Death came at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 1958, at her home in
Huntington after an illness of more than a year. At the time of her
passing she was 45.

She is survived by her husband Francis L. Welch, her mother, Clara Duncan Mays, both of Huntington, one son, Robert G. Watkins, West Palm Beach, Florida. Three grandchildren and one brother, Harry Lee Mays, Huntington. Early in life Mrs. Welch became a member of the First Baptist Church to which she was sincerely devoted until the day of her death. She was also a member of the Eastern Star No. 320.

Being widely known and loved by many residents of Johnson County, she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

OBITUARY

Willa Welch Dies
Thursday in Huntington

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist
Church in this city for Mrs. Willa Margaret Welch, 45, who died at her home in Huntington, W. Va., Thursday, July 31, at 4:15 p.m., following an illness of eight months.

The daughter of Mrs. Clara Duncan Mays and the late R. L. (Bob) Mays, she was born at Jenkins, Ky., November 3, 1912. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Paintsville Order of Eastern Star No. 320. She had lived in Huntington for the past eight months and was a former resident of this city and West Van Lear.

Survivors include besides her mother, her husband, Francis L.
(Jack) Welch, former announcer WSIP; one son, Robert G. Watkins,
West Palm Beach, Florida; one brother, Harry Lee Mays, Huntington, W.
Va.

Rev. M. R. Thomason, pastor of the First Baptist Church conducted thefuneral services. Pallbearers were Otto Pratt, Lynn Jennings, Irvin Spradlin, Hargis Ison, Ted Arnold Silvert and Escom Chandler.

Burial was in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear.
