JEANETTE BLANTON 1910-1986 ACCIDENT IS FATAL FOR MAN, WIFE An elderly Johnson County couple was killed Saturday following a two-vehicle mishap on Route 23 near Nippa. Corner Bryan Fraley said Mitchell Blanton, 77, and his wife, Jeanette Blanton, 75, both of Oil Springs, were pronounced dead on arrival at Paul B. Hall Regional Medical Center following the 12:15 p.m. accident Saturday. Fraley said the Blanton vehicle apparently pulled onto Route 23 from Route 993 and into the path of a pickup truck driven by Bobby Grim, of Nippa. Grim Was taken to Hall Medical Center and later transferred to Huntington, West Virginia hospital according to a spokesman for Burchett's Ambulance Service. Funeral services for the Blantons were conducted Tuesday in a dual ceremony at the Pigeon Enterprise Baptist Church at Oil Springs. Survivers include a son, Rudolph Blanton, of Columbus, OH; a daughter, Janice Reed of Hamler, OH; and five grandchildren. JEANETTE BLANTON Mrs. Jeanette Halbert Blanton, age 75, died May 3, 1986, along with her husband, Mr. Mitchell Blanton, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident at Nippa. Born in Floyd County, June 18, 1910, the daughter of WILLIAM and MARTHA CRISP HALBERT. She was a housewife and mother, a member of the Southside Freewill Baptist and a reident of Oil springs at the time of her death. Mrs. Blanton is survived by a son, Rudolph Blanton, Columbus, OH; a daughter, Janice Reed, hamler, OH; three brothers, Alex Halbert, Brandenburg, KY; Bee Halbert, Drift, Dan Halbert, Detroit, MI; two sisters, Fannie Baldridge and Golda Stumbo, both of Martin; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 6, in the Pigeon Enterprise Baptist Church,Oil Springs, with Reverends Charles Stapleton and Johnny Estepp officiating. Burial was made in the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville, under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home. Paintsville Herald. May 7, 1986.
