ASHLEY WARD BUTCHER
1911-1992
Retired miner, Ashley Ward Butcher, 80, died Thursday, February 20
1992 at his Van Lear home.
Mr. Butcher was born June 27, 1911 in Johnson County, the son of
the late Hairm and Emma (Meeks) Butcher.
Surviving are his wife, Nova (Webb) Butcher, eight sons, Harold,
Chester, Gene, Randall, Darrell, Foley, Sheldon and Charles Butcher
all of Van Lear; four daughters, Jewel Sue Adams, and Marie Herrera,
both of Van Lear, Norina Hackworth of Prestonsburg, and Lorrene Hall
of Wabash, Indiana; one sister, Sarah Newberry of Auxier; and 28
grandchilden and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 22 in Jones-Preston
Funeral Home Chapel, with Dick VanHoose officiating.
Burial was in Butcher Family Cemetery at Van Lear.
