Verla Mae Curtis, 81, of Oil Springs, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005
at Mountain Manor Nursing Home, Paintsville.

Born Dec. 3, 1923, in Morgan County, she was a daughter of the
late Greenberry and Margaret Angie Gambil Wright. She was a
homemaker.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lundy Curtis, in
1995; a sister, Vannie Curtis; and a grandson, Roger Douglas
Williams.

Survivors include two daughers, Nola Keaton of Wellington, and
Betty Williams of Oil Springs; three brothers, Lee Wright of
Bradford, Ohio, Cecil Wright of Flemingsburg, and Willard Wright
of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Berlene Wright of West
Liberty, Madgie Cantrell of Piqua, Ohio, and Betty Jean Keaton of
Lucasville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and
seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 26, at Jones-Preston Funeral
Home Chapel, Paintsville, with Paul E. Keaton, Frankie Williams,
Sammie Reed, and Freddy Salyers officiating.

Burial was in Johnson County Memorial Cemetery, Staffordsville,
under direction of Jones-Preston Funeral Home.
