TELA DANIEL 1889-1952 Mrs. Tela Daniel, 63, died at the Paintsville Hospital Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. after an illness of three weeks. The daughter of James M. and Ida Bush Van Hoose, she was born November 6, 1889 in Johnson County. She had lived at Tutor Key most of her life and had been a member of the Freewill Baptist Church for 50 years. Surviving are her husband, John L. Daniel, Paintsville; four children, Maggie, Edd and Mrs. Wendell Van Hoose, Tutor Key; and Bert Daniel, Louisa. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also surviving are six brothers and sisters, Oscar Van Hoose, Lowmansville; Elro Van Hoose, Nippa, Richard and Mitchell Van Hoose, Tutor Key; Bert Van Hoose, Glendale, California; Hubert Van Hoose, Louisville; Mrs. Virgil Ward, River, and Mrs. Bascom Daniel, Tutor Key. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, September 27 at her home at Tutor Key, with Revs. Millard Van Hoose and Claude Preston officiation. Songs were by the Toms Creek Quartet. Burial was in the family cemetery at Tutor Key under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home. Born November 6, 1889 in Johnson County, she was the daughter of James M. and Ida Bush Van Hoose. She was married in March 1908 to John Daniel, who survives. Mrs. Daniel had been a member of the Freewill Baptist Church for fifty years and was one of the most beloved and respected women of the county. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Edd Daniel, Tutor Key, Ky., Bert Daniel, Louisa, Ky.; two daughters, Mrs. Wendell Van Hoose and Miss Maggie Daniel, both of Tutor Key; six brothers, Bert Van Hoose, Glendale, California; Hubert Van Hoose, Louisville; Richard and Mitchel Van Hoose, Tutor Key; Elro Van Hoose, Nippa, and Oscar Van Hoose, Lowmansville; two sisters, Mrs. Bascom Daniel and Mrs. Virgil Ward, both of Tutor Key. Services were conducted by the Revs. Millard Van Hoose, Claude Preston and Virgil Daniel. Music was by the Toms Creek Quartet.
