CURTIS DELONG
1906-1974
 
Curtis Delong, a 67 years old resident of Van Lear, died in a local
hospital last Wednesday, May 15, following a lengthy illness.
 
The son of the late B. F. and Sarah Sammons Delong, he was a retired
coal miner, member of the UMWA and a former deputy sheriff for 15
years.
  
Mr. Delong was born May 19, 1906. He is survived by his wife, Nora
Honeycutt Delong; three sons, Seldon of Van Lear, Douglas of Marion,
OH and Arville of Cincinnati, OH; four daughters, Allene Hyden of
Cincinnati, Emmogene Carter of Flatwoods, Alka May Boggs of Van Lear
and Juanita Litteral of Flatwoods; 23 grandchildren; 2 great
grandchildren, two brothers, Mitchell Delong and Willie Delong, both
of Van Lear and four sisters, Audrey Dearfield of Cleveland, OH,
Menzie Adkins of Baltimore, MD, Nancy Stuart of Huntington, WV, and
Ruby Boyd of Van Lear.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Delong were held Saturday, May 18, in the
Philadelphia Church of Christ at Van Lear where he was a member.
 
Reverends Cecil Sherman and J. H. Short officiated. Burial was in the
Fannin Cemetery at Van Lear with arrangements under the direction of
the Jones- Preston Funeral Home.
