JOHN HOWARD 1930-2001 John Edison Howard, 71, of Tomahawk, died Thursday Apr.5 2001 at his home. Mr. Howard was born March 20, 1930, in Johnson County, a son of the late Sidney J. and Judy B. Arrowood Howard. His wife, Phyllis Nadine Fitzpatrick Howard, died in 1979. He was retired from the Army with 23 years service, where he served in the Vietnam and Korean wars. Surviving is three sons, Thomas Allen Howard and James Wesely Howard, both of Tomahawk, and Lowell Ray Howard of Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Debra R. Delong of Paintsville and Vera Melinda Goble of Tomahawk; two brothers, Lowell Ray Howard of Paintsville and Sidney Howard Jr. of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; and Dixie Mae Nesselrotte of Louisa, Lou Analine Harless of Lancaster, Ohio, Alice Marie Fitch of Meally and Sarah Rebecca Lemaster of Shepardsville; and nine grandchildren. The funeral was at 1 p.m. today at Jones-Preston Funeral Home in Paintsville by Pastor Rick Ratliff. Burial was in Cumbo Cemetery in West Van Lear.
