LEE HOWARD, SR.,
DIES SUDDENLY OF HEART ATTACK

Lee Howard, Sr., 70, well-known resident of this city, died suddenly of
a heart attack at his home on Washington Avenue at 11:15 p.m., Monday,
July 3, 1961.

The son of the late John and Fannie Cantrell Howard, he was born in
Magoffin County January 15, 1891, and had resided in this city for
thirty-seven years.

He worked as a painter and was a member of the Paintsville United
Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Alice Montgomery Howard; two sons, Lee
Howard, Jr., Chief of the Paintsville Fire Department; Paul Harrison
Howard, assistant fire chief, both of this city; three daughters, Mrs.
Buell Williams, Mrs. Curtis Hickman, Miss Mary Hazel Howard, all of
this city; Mrs. William L. Grimm, Ashland. Also surviving are ten
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday from the
Paintsville United Baptist Church with F. F. Rigsby, Cully Sparks and
V. L. Pelphrey as officiating ministers.

Burial will be in the Jayne Cemetery at Staffordsville.
