DORMAN PICKLESIMER
1887-1956

Dorman Picklesimer, 68, of West Van Lear, died at 10:55 a.m.,
Sunday, May 27, in a local hospital after and illness of three
days.

Mr. Picklesimer, a former teacher in the Johnson County schools
and clerk of the C & O Railroad Company, was one of the county's
most respected citizens. He was a member of the West Van Lear
Missionary Baptist Church and was active and deeply interested in
the work of the church.

Born on September 17, 1887, he was the son of the later John Henry
and Minerva Jane Watkins Picklesimer.

He had resided in Johnson County all his life and had moved to the
West Van Lear locality about 19 years ago.

He was married to Miss Rebecca Slone who survives.

Also surviving are six sons: Roma Picklesimer, Clifton Forge, Va.,
Hershel Picklesimer, Berlin Center, Ohio, Clifford Picklesimer,
South Charles Town, W. Va., Billy Joe Picklesimer, Columbus, Ohio,
Dorman Picklesimer, Jr. and Isaac Paul Picklesimer, both of West
Van Lear; five daughters, Mrs. Neva Harter, Columbus, Ohio, Mrs.
Edna Dietrich, Ironton, Ohio, Mrs. Jean Spears, Columbus, Ohio,
Miss Minerva Picklesimer, South Charles Town, W. Va., and Mrs.
Mary Hampton, Prestonsburg, Ky. And two brothers, Maurice and
Emerson Picklesimer, Port Orange, Fla. He also leaves 13
grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 29, at the
Missionary Baptist Church at West Van Lear by the Reverend Ora
Slone. Pallbearers were Argus Vance, Rennie Salyers, Johnny
Sammons, Bob Auxier, James W. Trimble and Paul Butcher.

Burial was made in the family cemetery at Hager Hill under the
direction of the James and Preston Funeral Home.
