Death Takes Laura Preston
Rites Sunday For Well-Known Woman
Mrs. Laura Ethel Preston,55, one of Paintsville's most respected women,
died July 23 at 1:30 P.M. in a local hospital after an illness of seven
weeks.
Mrs.Preston was born in Johnson County, February 22, 1893 the daughter of
H. H. and Sarah Pack Nichols.
She was reared in the Masonic Home, her mother having died during her
infancy.
She later made her home with her aunt Mrs. Pearl Slone,until her marriage
to Glenn Preston on Feb.22,1911.
She was a member of the First Methodist Church and was past matron of the
Paintsville Chapter Order of Eastern Star No.320. Mrs.Preston had many
friends in Paintsville. She will be sadly missed in the community by her
family and by all who knew her.
Surviving beside her husband are one foster son William K. Preston, city,
one sister Mrs. Dora Nichols Sturgill of Cherokee,O., and one brother S.
B. Nichols, Stockdale,O.
Funeral services were conductedat the First Methodist Church at 2:30 P.M.
Sunday by Rev. Clarence W. Krebs and Rev. John N. Mostoller.
Burial was made in the Preston Cemetery where the ceremony was conducted
at the graveside by the Order of Eastern Star.
Burial was under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
