OSCAR C. SKAGGS
1918-2003


Oscar C. Skaggs, 85, of 216 Fairway Drive, Rockingham, N.C., formerly
of Ashland, Ky., passed away Friday, Aug. 29, 2003, at his residence.

Mr. Skaggs was born Aug. 18, 1918, in Flat Gap, in Johnson County, Ky.,
a son of the late Hardy Skaggs and Dessie Williams.

He was former vice president of Wheeler and Williams Hardware in
Ashland before his retirement and was a World War II veteran with the
U.S. Army. He was also a former councilman for the city of Russell,
trustee for the city of Bellefonte, was a member of Russell Christian
Church and American Legion Clarence Fields Post 76 of Ashland and was a
Kentucky colonel.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Harris Skaggs; three daughters,
Melinda Hampton of North Canton, Ohio, Vicki Imes of Nashville and
Bobbi Kellar of Colbert, Ga.; two stepsons, Rick Bryant of Cannonsburg,
Ky., and Scott Bryant of Canton; and two grandchildren, Anna Hampton
and Rachel Hampton, both of North Canton.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003,
at Russell Christian Church by the Rev. John Hampton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Caniff Funeral Home in
Westwood, Ky.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the veterans group of
your choice or your favorite church organization.
