Mrs. Rose Wallen, 67, resident of River, died of a heart attack at
2:20 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Jimmie Ray Ratliff, city.

Mrs. Wallen was born in Martin County, June 16, 1895, the daughter
of James and Mary Romans Starr. She had lived at River for 55
years and was a member of the United Baptist church.

Survivors include her husband, Lige Wallen, whom she married at
Louisa, June 17, 1918; two sons, Everett Wallen, River; James R.
Wallen, Waynesville, OH; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmie Ray Ratliff,
city; two brothers, Wallace Starr, Chattaroy, WV, Bill Starr, OH;
also surviving are ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at the River
United Baptist Church with V. L. Pelphrey and Nim Sturgill as
officiating ministers.

Burial was in the Wallen Cemetery at River.
