MARVIN WARD
1898-1963

Marvin Ward, 65, died at his home at West Van Lear at 8:30 a.m.,
Sunday, August 11, following an extended illness.

The son of the late Simon and Mary Bowens Ward, he was born in this
county May 20, 1898.

A retired miner, he had made his home in West Van Lear for the past
twenty years.

Prior to that time he lived in van Lear for twenty years. He was a
member of the United Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mollie Sparks Ward; two sons, Richard D.
Ward, Vandalia, Ohio; John Michael Ward, West Van Lear; three
daughters, Mrs. Mary Ruth Runyon, Germantown, Ohio; Mrs. Ella Pack,
Fairborn, Ohio; Mrs. Betty Jo Neal, Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Ervin
Ward, Wheelwright; Johnnie Ward, Bainbridge, Ohio; three sisters,
Mrs. Edith Walters, Jewel Valley, Va.; Mrs. Margie Sparks, Barrett,
W. Va.; Mrs. Virgie Dawson, Gallipolis, Ohio.

Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and four great-
grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday
at the Cedar Grove United Baptist Church at West Van Lear with John
Crum, Elsie Banks and C. J. Sparks as officiating ministers.
