Company E, 12th Regiment of NC Troops |
The company was raised 22 April 1861 by attorney Augustus W Burton. The men were trained at Garysburg, NC, and became part of the 2nd Regiment of NC Volunteers. The regiment was mustered into Confederate service 18 May 1861 and sent to Camp Caroline at Norfolk, Virginia, and reorganized into the 12th Regiment of NC Troops.More detailed information on each of these soldiers can be found in North Carolina Troops 1861-1865 A Roster, Volume X, Infantry, compiled by Weymouth T Jordan, Jr with Unit Histories by Louis H Manarin.
