I have among my ancestors (according to a document that I have only a copy of) one James Washington Alexander.
I have another paper, hand written, which is on a James W. Alexander. I believe it's the same person, even though
there are a couple of minor discrepancies. It says he was in Company K, 33rd Virginia Infantry, Private, Confederate.
I'm going to type in the rest of the information and you can decide whether to place him on your site.
Maybe someone else can use the information or can give me some more.

"Alexander Boys"
According to " N.C.Troops A Roster" Volume 13, this company was raised primarily in
Alexander and Onslow counties March-April 1862 and was mustered into state service at
Camp Mangum, near Raleigh, May 31 where it was assigned to the 55th Regiment as Co H. They remained so the rest of the war.
Alexander A. Bolick, a native of Burke County, NC, lived in Alexander County and farmed
for a living. He inlisted at age 39 April 3 1862. Reported absent on wheat furlough in June 1862,
his wife had a baby while he was at home. His brother Anderson joined
Sept 1 1862 at the age of 25.Alexander was wounded at the Wilderness in the thigh May 5 1864,
hospitalized at Richmond and transferred to another hospital May 15.
After returning to duty, he was wounded in the hip at Globe Tavern Aug 18 1864. Sometime before
Nov 1 1864 he returned to duty once again and this time was captured near
Hatcher's Run March 25 1865 confined at Point Lookout, Maryland on April 2 1865.
He was released June 23 1865.
Both brothers were on the Roll of Honor for Gallantry at globe Tavern Virginia Aug 19 1865.
This researcher is eager to learn more about the 55th, and especially Company H.

A 34 year old farmer, living in Caldwell County, Daniel Crump was conscripted into service on 20 August 1862 and assigned to
Company C of the 18th. His great-great-grandson, Ted, tells us Daniel fought in the battle of Sharpsburg,
was captured at Spotsylvania and imprisoned for the balance of the war. Ted is interested in learning more about the 18th and t
heir exploits, as well as hearing from anyone with information on the "NC Roll of Honor".

"William Henry Dabbs was born around Wadesboro in Anson County North Carolina in 1841. He entered Confederate Service in 1861 and
was discharged from Confederate Service in 1863 due to the wound he received at Malvern Hill Virginia. It appears that he had his thumb
shot off during the battle. William and his brother David Sidney Dabbs both fought at the Battle Of Malvern Hill. David Sidney Dabbs was the
Sergeant of Company K, 26th Regiment. The Battle Of Malvern Hill occured on July 1st, 1862. David Sidney Dabbs goes on to a place called
Gettysburg Pennsylvania and is killed 1 year to the day on July 1st, 1863 on the first day of the fighting. If someone happens to know where
David Sidney Dabbs in buried I really would like to know. Also at the Battle Of Malvern Hill are 2 of William and Davids' other brothers,
Eiljah Vincent Dabbs and Robert Huntley Dabbs. They are in Company I, 43rd Regiment North Carolina Infantry. Robert H. Dabbs
dies at home in 1862 from "Anthrax" after being released from Confederate Service. Elijah Vincent Dabbs is wounded 3 times before t
he war ends and is captured at Drewery's Bluff Virginia in 1865. If anyone knows where any of the men are buried I would appreciate knowing.

Private Dellinger's descendant tells us he "resided in Cleveland County where he enlisted at the age of 26 on 27 April 1861.
He was present or accounted for until captured at Sharpsburg, Maryland on 17 September 1862, and was hospitalized at Baltimore,
Maryland for unspecified reasons. The private was paroled and transferred to Aiken's Landing, James River, Virginia, where
he was received 5 November 1862 for exchange. The exchange took place 10 November 1862 and he returned to duty prior to 1
January 1863. 1 April 1863 he was transferred to the 2nd Company D, 15th Regiment of NC Troops on 1 April 1863. He was
present or accounted for until reported absent without leave on 15 October 1863, and returned to duty inJanuary or February 1864.
He was present or accounted for until paroled at Appomattox Court House, Virginia on 9 April 1865."

"Robert Devinny was a resident of Cleveland County when he enlisted 26 Feb 1863 in Wake County, North Carolina.
He was mustered into Co. G, 12th North Carolina Infantry that same day. (The 12th North Carolina Infantry was organized on
14 Nov 1861 and assigned to the Army of Northern Virginia. Surviving soldiers were mustered out on 9 April 1865.)
During his military service, the 12th North Carolina fought numerous engagements, the major battles including
Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Courthouse. On 12 May 1984, in the battle at
Spotsylvania Courthouse, Robert and 47 other men of the 12th NC Infantry were taken prisoner and confined at P
oint Lookout, Maryland. He was transferred on 10 Aug 1864 to the Union POW camp at Elmira, NY where he died of pneumonia on 2 Dec 1864.
He is buried in Woodlawn National Cemetery, grave 885.
1233 of the 2917 Confederates buried at "Hellmira" were from North Carolina.
Confederate dead were buried in 36 rows on a 2½ acre portion of the city cemetery (later designated Woodlawn National Cemetery.)
by John W. Jones, an escaped slave from Leesburg, Virginia. Jones
marked each grave with a wooden headboard listing the soldier's name, company, regiment and state.
The wooden headboards were later replaced with stone grave markers."

in the right arm, the wound was so bad the arm was amputated above the elbow. He was retired to the invalid corps. In 1886 he
applied for and received a civil war pension. He was living in Monroe, NC (Union County) at the time of his death in 1905.
He is buried at Shilo Baptist Church Cemetery in Monroe, but I can't find a marker, or any info on the location of his plot.
I think some of his brothers served in the confederacy...."

Alexander (Patrick?) Kennedy, was mustered into Company F, 56th North Carolina Regiment on June 6th, 1862 in Camp Magnum.
His age at enlistment was 52. He was musician, but later transferred into the ranks. As your list indicates, he was a substitute for Burrell Blanton.
Later, (I think in May, 1863), he is listed as a substitute for T.A. Wells. He was captured by the Army of the Potomac on
March 25th, 1865 near Petersburg and was a prisoner of war at Point Lookout, Md. and took the oath between May 12 and
May 14, 1865. He assumed the name Alex Canada upon capture. His name appears on the Roll of Honor for Co. F. 56th Regiment
as Alexander Kennedy. He appears to have died in Cleveland County. I searched through the 1850 Census and did not
find his name. All of his muster records indicate he was from Cleveland County, N.C. (a farmer); but that he was born in York County, Pa.
Some older members of the family thought that "Alex" was born in Ireland or Scotland.

General Lane was born at Mathews Court House, VA, in 1833, and died 21 September 1907 in Auburn, Alabama and is
buried in the Pine Hill Cemetery there. Commissioned a brigadier on 1 November 1862, General Lane led a
brigade in the Army of Virginia from 1862 until 1865. He participated in Stonewall Jackson's flank attached at
Chancellorsville and "Pickett's Charge" at Gettysburg. He was a professor at the Virginia Military Institute and the
North Carolina Military Institute prior to the war, and returned to teaching after its end. For over a quarter century
he taught at the Alabama Polytechnic Institute, the current day Auburn University. These researchers are looking for descendants of General Lane.

In both the infantry records and in earlier census records, the name was spelled "McEntire", but the family actually
spelled it McIntyre, and still does so today. He enlisted April 27, 1861 from Cleveland County. Martin appeared on the company
muster roll on June 2, 1861. He was wounded on South Mountain at Crampton's Pass (also known as Crampton's Gap) on
September 14, 1862. His wounds were to the thigh and listed as severe. He was paroled, sent to Petersburg, then furloughed
to North Carolina. When he was recovered enough to return to duty he was detailed on the North Carolina Central Railroad.
He was ultimately returned to duty with the unit and was once again captured, this time at Hatcher's Run (outside Petersburg, Virginia)
on April 2, 1865. He took the oath of allegiance on June 29, 1865 and was released. On that card, at the bottom, his name appears
as Martin M. McIntyre. Martin relocated to Texas after the war c1869 and married Nita Paralee Gregory. Their home
was in Upshur County, Texas near Lafayette. Martin filed a pension application in 1907 which was disapproved.
His affiants were his brother M.O. McIntyre and an A. R. Putnam, both of Cleveland County, North Carolina.
